ALEB is a community app for people of Lebanese origin living anywhere in the world. This policy explains what we hold about you, why, and what you control.

The service is operated by [REVIEW: legal entity name and registered address]. Questions: support@aleb.app.

What we collect

To create your account. An email address or a mobile number — one of them, not both — and a password. We send a six-digit code to whichever you gave and store only a one-way hash of that code, never the code itself. Codes expire, and a used code cannot be reused.

Your profile. The country and city you pick, and then either your first and last name and date of birth (personal profile), or your business name, category and website (business profile). A short bio, a profile photo and a photo gallery are optional. A phone number on your profile is optional and separate from the number you may have signed up with.

What you do here. Favourites, events you create or join, chat requests, messages, ratings, table reservations, contacts, blocks and reports.

Your device. If you enable notifications we store a push token so we can reach your handset, plus the platform and your language. Logging out removes it.

Photos. Images are stored with our media provider. We strip embedded metadata — including GPS coordinates — from every upload before it is stored, so a photo you post does not reveal where it was taken.

We do not buy personal data about you, we do not sell yours, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

What you control

Three switches in Settings → Privacy and Security decide what other members see:

  • Photos — your gallery is hidden from anyone who is not a contact.
  • Phone number — your personal number is hidden from anyone who is not a contact. A number on a business profile is always public: it is a listed contact detail, which is the point of a business listing.
  • Joined events — the events you have joined are hidden from other members.

Changes take effect immediately, everywhere, including in search results.

You are a contact of someone once one of you sent a chat request and the other accepted it. Nothing else creates that relationship.

Messaging and blocking

Nobody can message you until you accept their chat request. Blocking someone stops both directions at once, cancels any pending request between you, and removes each of you from the other's search results and lists.

Who can see what

Your name, photo, city and bio are visible to other signed-in members, subject to the switches above. Your email address, your sign-up phone number, your password and your date of birth are never shown to other members. Nobody sees your profile at all until you finish signing up.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We hold your account and profile to provide the service you asked for (contract). We hold security and abuse records, including reports and blocks, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the community safe. Notifications are sent on the basis of the permission you give your handset, and can be turned off there or by logging out. [REVIEW: confirm the lawful bases for the operator's jurisdiction.]

How long we keep it

Your account exists until you delete it. When you delete it, your profile stops being visible to other members immediately, and everything is permanently erased after 30 days. Within that window the deletion can no longer be undone from the app — contact us if you delete by mistake.

Two things deliberately survive: messages you sent stay in the other person's conversation with the sender shown as a removed member, so their history stays readable; and records we must keep to handle abuse reports or meet a legal obligation.

Your rights

You can see and change most of your data in the app. You can also ask us to export it, correct it, or erase it, and you can object to how we use it. Write to support@aleb.app and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to your local data protection authority. [REVIEW: name the supervisory authority for the operator's jurisdiction.]

Children

ALEB is not intended for children. You must be at least [REVIEW: minimum age, e.g. 16] to create an account.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the version above and show you the new version in the app. Continuing to use ALEB after a change means you accept it.
